Prime Institute of Public health is offering master level programs focusing on health management and policy since 2015. The programs have been developed after detailed curriculum planning and carry multiple features to set them apart from the existing ones.

  • Up-to-date evidence-based program structure designed after a nationwide market survey:
    The structure of master level programs have been designed after yearlong nationwide survey of the existing public health degree programs offered in Pakistan as well as a public health market survey documenting knowledge and skill areas currently required of a public health professional.
  • Practical exposure through project-based field assignments and internships:
    Prime Institute of Public Health (PIPH) has a strong public health intervention unit with multiple funded projects running throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Pakistan). Enrolled public health students have the unique opportunity to get involved in currently underway public health projects of the institute and gain practical public health exposure during their training.
  • Competency based curriculum adapted from public health competencies of American Associations of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH):
    Prime Institute of Public Health is the first public health institute to launch competency based master programs in Pakistan. Its two-year degree programs are focused on skills and competencies derived after aligning national public health competencies (identified from the study) with the public health competencies developed by American Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH).
  • Program featured to significantly enhance employability:
    These programs have been planned to be outcome oriented, the outcome being productive and competent public health professionals contributing in the region and abroad. The programs use a mix of evidence based strategies to increase graduates’ employability at home and abroad.
  • Foreign qualified and experienced faculty:
    Prime Institute of Public Health has foreign qualified faculty experienced in public health education and frequently involved in public health practice in community. It is worth mentioning that 60% of PIPH faculty are Fulbright Alumni. The students have access to foreign trained faculty with extensive experience in regional public health challenges, giving them a significant professional advantage.
  • Involvement of public health experts:
    Apart from the core faculty, each of the courses has involvement of reputed public health experts as guest speakers. These national and international experts have years of experience working in their respective public health areas. The institute has latest audiovisual conferencing facility to support participation of international experts.
  • International collaborations:
    Prime institute of Public Health has international collaborations through formal academic partnerships and involvement of international public health experts. One example of an international collaboration is a combined course on environmental and occupational health with Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences in Malaysia.
